Hello.¬† I am new to the forum and I wanted to ask some advice on social anxiety.¬† I always used to be a very outgoing and gregarious person and loved being the centre of attention.¬† Now however I feel very anxious in public and¬† tend to avoid places or situation where I think I might meet people that I do not know.¬† I really hate crowded places and I dread being singled out to speak in public or to be given attention in any way.¬† Nothing has happened to me in any dramatic way that I coud say led to this.¬† This situation was never the case for me as I was a performer for some years.¬† I loved the attention back then.¬† Now I really have to force myself to go out of the house and I am afraid that if things continue like this I might become agoraphobic.¬† Can anyone help with their own experinece and how they got over it?¬†

I am sorry to hear about this especially as you certainly seem to have been very outgoing in the past.¬† I think you need to see your doctor first and reaach out to one of the therapists on the site who specialise in this kind of problem.¬† I think the sooner that you do that the better, as you do not want to get any worse.¬† Have you confided in a friend or relative?¬† That can help a lot and they will help you too.¬† Good luck and let us know. ¬†
