Hello.  I am new to the forum and I wanted to ask some advice on social anxiety.  I always used to be a very outgoing and gregarious person and loved being the centre of attention.  Now however I feel very anxious in public and  tend to avoid places or situation where I think I might meet people that I do not know.  I really hate crowded places and I dread being singled out to speak in public or to be given attention in any way.  Nothing has happened to me in any dramatic way that I coud say led to this.  This situation was never the case for me as I was a performer for some years.  I loved the attention back then.  Now I really have to force myself to go out of the house and I am afraid that if things continue like this I might become agoraphobic.  Can anyone help with their own experinece and how they got over it?

I am sorry to hear about this especially as you certainly seem to have been very outgoing in the past.  I think you need to see your doctor first and reaach out to one of the therapists on the site who specialise in this kind of problem.  I think the sooner that you do that the better, as you do not want to get any worse.  Have you confided in a friend or relative?  That can help a lot and they will help you too.  Good luck and let us know.
