Hi, I’m really struggling with panic attacks. I don’t know why they happen, it feels like they come out of the blue. I can be fine one minute, the next I feel terrible. I don’t think anyone really understands what’s going on, I feel really embarrassed to be honest. I had one first when I was out with friends, I felt dizzy and thought I was going to faint. I’d never felt like that before so it was really strange. Since then I feel scared to be on my own in case something bad happens :(. Has anyone else felt like this before?Â

HI Lucy22. This is a common experience that people can have, more than we think! It’s a horrible feeling but you can learn to manage anxiety and panic attacks in time. One tip that you can try is to remind yourself that these dizzy feelings are anxiety, and a natural response. Also it is important to note that when we feel anxiety we are actually less likely to faint. Adrenaline in our body makes our heart beat faster, pumping blood around the body, making blood pressure a bit higher. Fainting happens when our blood pressure is low. You might want to try focussing on what is around you, or chatting to a friend. This will take your mind off the uncomfortable physical feelings in your body.Â Let us know how it goes!
